Maharashtra allows free shooting at government locations while acknowledging the competitiveness in filmmaking incentives. Nitin Tej Ahuja, CEO of the Producers Guild of India, feels pleased with the move. The government requires deposits between Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 2,50,000 and mandates that shooting locations be in decent condition. Maharashtra’s attraction to filmmakers is further enhanced by plans for single-window clearance and the application of damage compensation procedures.
The Maharashtra government is gradually realising that other states and nations are attracting filmmakers with their alluring policies and ease of doing business. All government and semi-government locations are open for free film, TV programmes, and advertisement production. “It’s a welcome move, and we look forward to many more such producer-friendly initiatives from the Government of Maharashtra,” said Nitin Tej Ahuja, CEO of the Producers Guild of India.
The government requires organisations to provide well-maintained shooting locations, as stated in the announcement. Through a one-window scheme, the concerned department or authority will collect deposits from production houses of Rs. 40,000 for advertising, Rs. 1,00,000 for serials, and Rs. 2,50,000 for films.
Additionally, in cases of damage to government property, compensation will be recovered from the responsible organization as per government rules. The department reserves the right to change the deposit amount submitted after some time.
Furthermore, following government regulations, reimbursement will be demanded from the accountable entity if government property is damaged. After some time, the department can alter the amount of the submitted deposit.
