Angkrish Raghuvanshi: KKR newcomer arrives with a bang. Hits fifty in 25 balls

Angkrish Raghuvanshi: With a strike rate of 200 with five fours and three sixes in his innings, the 18-year-old hit 54 runs off only 27 balls.

Young Angkrish Raghuvanshi of the Kolkata Knight Riders marked his spectacular entry into the Indian Premier League. He hit a blazing half-century in his first-ever innings against the Delhi Capitals. Raghuvanshi made his IPL debut against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, he wasn’t lucky enough to bat in that match. In the meantime, he dominated the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. He blasted a 25-ball half-century with his dynamic batting all over the pitch.

Following Phil Salt’s early departure, Angkrish Raghuvanshi headed to bat at number three. The eighteen-year-old lost no time in hitting back-to-back boundaries. He and Sunil Narine exchanged beats, wreaking havoc and overwhelming the DC bowling assault.

With a strike rate of 200, Angkrish Raghuvanshi fired 54 runs off barely 27 balls. The right-handed batsman hit five fours and three sixes in his innings. In the interim, after Shreyas Iyer chose to bat first at the toss. Raghuvanshi and Narine (85) had a 104-run stand that set the foundation for KKR’s massive total.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s wicket was taken down by fast bowler Anrich Nortje. Angkrish was looking to hit another massive shot.

About the talented batsman:

Angkrish Raghuvanshi moved from Delhi to Mumbai when he was 11 to pursue cricket training. He received training from Abhishek Nayar and Omkar Salvi. 

Angkrish Raghuvanshi plays domestic cricket from Mumbai and has carved his position as a popular figure owing to this left-arm orthodox bowling in addition to his strong batting skills.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi made waves at the 2022 U-19 World Cup, scoring 278 runs and was a key member of India’s championship-winning team captained by Yash Dhull. In 2023, he made his List A and Twenty20 debuts. Raghuvanshi also put up an outstanding display in the CK Nayudu Trophy, smashing 765 runs in nine matches. The two-time winners KKR paid INR 20 lakh to sign him, and the KKR scouts did well to shortlist him on their auction list. He joined the team to reunite with his childhood coach, Abhishek Nayar.
